The affluent socialite stands accused of preying on the hopes of numerous Ugandan youths, enticing them with promises of visas for lucrative opportunities abroad.
Revelations from the Uganda Police have unveiled a distressing narrative of deception, with Don Chris allegedly orchestrating a scheme that defrauded approximately 350 individuals, amassing a staggering total of Shs 1.4 billion through deceitful machinations.
Minister Balaam solemnly acknowledged the aggrieved victims who sought solace and answers at his office, recounting, “The youths came to my office and demanded answers.”
Personal intervention and unfulfilled promises
Displaying a rare blend of empathy and firmness, Minister Balaam personally engaged with Don Chris, imploring him to initiate the process of refunding the individuals who had been wronged.
With candor, Balaam revealed, “I advised him to look for money and refund these people. He asked for one week but failed to fulfill the commitment.” Regrettably, Don Chris chose to evade accountability by fleeing the country, compelling Minister Balaam to escalate the matter.
In a resolute stance against impunity, Minister Balaam rallied the assistance of the CID Director to track down Don Chris and ensure that justice prevails for the victims.
Emphasizing the unwavering commitment of the authorities, Minister Balaam affirmed, “The responsible bodies will diligently execute their duties and repatriate Don Chris to face the gravity of these allegations.”
