Balaam was recently appointed as the state minister for children and youth. It was a surprise to many as they didn’t expect an events promoter to just become a minister.
According to him, people are expecting so much from him. Most of them think he has jobs and he is going to give them.
The events promoter advised those who need money to engage in government programs and they will get the money.
He said despite being a minister, he works so hard to get his money and he doesn’t understand why people would want free money.
“Don’t bring your proposals to me asking for money, I don’t have job placements neither do I have money. I work for my money and I urge you to engage in gov’t programs. You will be able to access this money,” he said.
It should be noted that after becoming a minister, a lot of people congratulated him even those that he wasn’t close to.
The idea also probably is that he has now got himself into wads of cash and will be dishing it out to whoever supports him.
This ordeal probably comes from the fact that politics in Uganda has been monetized. This is to the extent that wealthy people get voted into a political office because they give out money.
The other reason is definitely the high unemployment rate in the country.
