Obama has been a strong advocate for Kamala Harris ever since she rose to the top of the Democratic ticket in July. This is when President Joe Biden resigned due to his dismal performance in a debate against Trump.
Obama remains well-liked by the supporters of his party, even if his stint in office ended in 2017. This was the first of several events Harris planned to do in battleground states in the upcoming weeks.
The rally he headlined at the University of Pittsburgh took place when Harris Kamala was campaigning in Nevada and Arizona.
“I get it why people are looking to shake things up,” Obama said to a crowd of supporters on Thursday.
“I understand people feeling frustrated, feeling ‘We can do better.’ What I cannot understand is why anybody would think that Donald Trump will shake things up in a way that’s good for you, Pennsylvania.”
Obama emphasized that Harris was reared in the middle class and adheres to American ideals. He also said Trump simply cares about his own ego and wealth.
“Kamala is as prepared for the job as any nominee for president has ever been.”
The Harris team plans to use a number of former presidents on the campaign trail, not just Obama.
A vital component of the coalition that the Harris campaign believes will help her win is made up of young people
