US President, Joe Biden delivered a national address from the Oval Office today. In his speech, he said that the beauty of American Democracy is that there is no place for kings and dictators.
Biden went ahead and rallied the people of the US to keep their faith and make the right decisions in November’s general election.
The 46th US President further said that he believes his achievements, leadership and vision warranted him a second term in office.
But not even his personal ambitions can come in the way of saving American democracy. Therefore, the best way is to pass on the torch to the next generation.
“The great thing about America is kings and dictators do not rule – the people do. The power is in your hands. The idea of America lies in your hands. We just have to keep the faith and remember who we are. I believe my record, my leadership, and my vision for our future merited a second term. But nothing can come in the way of saving our democracy. That includes personal ambition. The best way forward is to pass the torch to a new generation. That’s how we unite our nation,” said Biden.
Additionally, he said that nowhere on earth could a stuttering kid like him from modest beginnings ever think of sitting behind the “Resolute Desk as your president.” But that’s the beauty of American democracy according to the 81-year-old.
He pledged to continue serving his nation in the remaining 6 months in all ways possible. This include fighting for civil rights, and healthcare especially ending cancer among others.
His vice President Kamala Harris has already been chosen as the Democrat’s candidate to square off with Donald Trump in the November general election
