Besigye Says Ugandans Are Still In Captivity After The 2021 Polls

The former president of the Forum for Democratic Change party, Dr. Kizza Besigye said the 2021 polls proved that Ugandans are still in captivity. He said it is the most important lesson that the polls taught everyone.

He appeared on NBS Television’s morning show called Morning Breeze earlier today where he made these remarks from.

‘’We have no rights as citizens, have no free institutions of the state. The most important lesson this election can give is confirmation that we are a captive state,’’ Besigye said.

He further said the election helped to shine a light on the fact that Ugandans are not equal before the law despite every citizen having equal rights.

The four-time former presidential candidate said he told the competitors of President Museveni what would be the outcome. He hesitated to say this because it would seem like he is rubbing it in their faces. Almost as if saying, ‘’I told you so!’’

He regretted the fact that people all make themselves blind to the obvious reality, then they crash into a concrete wall head-on; pretending like the wall is not there.

When they asked him about Kyagulanyi’s decision to withdraw his petition from the court, Besigye said it is the right thing to do. Besigye said this because courts have degenerated over time, and Kyagulanyi was far from getting justice.

He added that if NUP had not gone to court, Ugandans would not have known that the courts are politically compromised. NUP withdraw their election petition case a week ago siting biasness from the courts against him.
