The convention is taking place at Kinkizi High School in Kanungu Town Council. It is under the theme, “Running the Race to Complete Faithfulness” drawn from 1st Corinthians 9:10.
Bishop Zoreka commended the organizing committee under the leadership of the Diocesan Youth Coordinator Rev Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize.
He thanked them for the theme they chose for the convention that directly addresses the youths’ lives. On that note, he advised the youths against living an aimless life that would lead them to distraction and end up useless.
According to the Bishop, for every good race run, there are prizes to be awarded.
He then related this to real life and told the youth to focus on the longtime prizes of living a purpose-driven life. Furthermore, he asked the youth to remain focused and get involved in church activities.
Rev Ronald Natuhwera, the preacher of the day also spoke. He told the participants that God knows their challenges. He told them that if they are committed to serving God and living a meaningful life, these challenges will be overcome.
About 1,300 youth are attending this year’s convention according to the Diocesan Youth Coordinator Rev Bob Mbabazi Ntegyereize. The convention will be ending tomorrow with a holy communion at St Peter’s Cathedral Nyakatare in Kanungu District.
This has been the first ever convention the Catholic Church has organized since Covid-19.
