Apparently, the MP’s vehicle a Land Cruiser, registration number UBK 995F colluded with a truck with Kenyan registration number, KCX 0710K. The legislator had his wife with him in the car at the time of the accident.
“The cause of the accident has been attributed to the Isuzu box body driver who drifted from his side to the side of the Landcruiser that was coming from Mbale heading to Iganga and had a head on collision,” Alaso said.
Patrick Okabe died on the spot after the accident but his wife, Christine Okabe, died on her way to Mbale regional referral hospital. At the moment, the driver of the vehicle only identified as Jacob, remains in critical condition under care at the same hospital.
Alaso revealed that the truck driver made his get-away and is still on the run as investigations into the matter continue.
The legislator has been the Director of Faith Fellowship Church Mbale and Impact Bible College. He is also the proprietor of a number of schools.
