The burial program for Bishop Tibesigwa Emeritus George has been released by the Ankole Diocese. Bishop Emeritus unfortunately passed away on Wednesday afternoon at Mayanja Memorial Hospital in Mbarara City.
Bishop Tibesigwa, during his time, served as the fourth Bishop of Ankole Diocese. He succumbed to diabetes after spending a week in hospital care.
There was a vigil held at the prelate’s home in Rugando, Rwampara district on Thursday at 5pm. On Friday from 2pm to 5pm, there will be a funeral service held at Nyakabere Parish Church of Uganda.
The body will have a final send off at St. James Cathedral in Mbarara City.
Bishop Sheldon expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the deceased and all Christian’s of Ankole Diocese.
“May the lord comfort the bereaved family and all the christians of Ankole Diocese,” he said.
From 2007 until 2010, Tibesigwa served as the 4th bishop of the Ankole Diocese. He succeeded retired Bishop Elisha Kyamuhambi.
During the time of his election, Tibesigwa had been serving as the principal of Barham University in Kabale. He became the first principal to be appointed to Bishop Bruham University, a Kabale-based constituent college of Uganda Christian University.
He held a Doctorate of Ministry from the Asian Centre for Theological Studies and Mission/United University of Asia.
Bishop Tibesigwa also had a Master of Divinity from University College of Emmanuel and St. Chad, among other accolades.
