The petitioner Mr Rutaro filed a case before the Constitutional Court on Friday accusing Bobi Wine of heading unregistered political party which comprises of three different names People Power, People Power Uganda and People Power Movement which are capable to be exchanged with each other and he went ahead to appoint regional coordinators as if it’s fully registered. This violates Article 72 (2) of the Constitution.
Mr Rutaro accuses Dr Kizza Besigye of setting up, running and organizing political activities which he says should be done only by registered political organizations.
The Attorney General has also been sued for failing to stop such unlawful activities and People Power spokesperson Mr Ssenyonyi Jowel has equally been dragged to court over the same accusations.
According to the declaration, the first respondent Joel Ssenyonyi and the second respondent Bobi Wine under People Power which is their unregistered Political party were able to appoint regional coordinators which is a violation of Article 72 (2) of Uganda’s Constitution, according to Daily Monitor.
