Bobi Wine Finally Accepts Elections Can’t Oust Museveni

It seems the leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP) Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu popularly known as Bobi Wine has accepted that elections can never oust President Museveni from power.

Prior to the 2021 general elections, Bobi Wine came under the spotlight. This is after he went after Besigye’s statement that Museveni can’t be removed from power through an election.

He said that Besigye had no moral authority to say that when he had contested 4 times for the presidency. Consequently he went ahead and lost the election he claims to have won.

Well, NUP has been having a numerous meetings in the past few days called by the Leader of Opposition, Hon Mathias Mpuuga. These were said to be geared at introducing constitutional and electoral reforms.

According to Bobi Wine, NUP believes that Uganda deserves better laws, policies and electoral reforms.

However, under the NRM, these laws can’t be effected successfully. Instead the regime would come up with new laws to suppress these reforms.

NUP also believes that the current laws, if well implemented, can serve their intended purpose well. Therefore, the meeting called by the LOP was consultative.

It was also intended to state the aspirations of Ugandans. Also it was to paint an ideal of what Uganda would be if it wasn’t one family/military rule.

He concluded by saying “The people of Uganda must therefore not bank their hopes on any legislative reforms under Museveni.

Our people must continue working hard, using all means necessary to remove a dictatorial regime and establish a legitimate government.

It is then that the people of Uganda will come together and chart a way forward on how they desire to be governed.”
