This is because of disunity among musicians, which has been exacerbated by the involvement of politics in the music industry.
Musicians such as Aziz Azion, Mikie Wine, and Kabako have all said that the UNMF will not achieve anything. Aziz Azion, who himself lacks academic credentials, criticized the academic credentials of UNMF president Eddy Kenzo. He also laughed at the finance minister, Bebe Cool.
“When you look at the president [Eddy Kenzo], you give up… what amused me most is the one they entrusted with finance [Bebe Cool].”
Kabako said that he was invited to the UNMF meeting by his friend Sheebah, but he did not attend because he had a performance to do. By the time he returned, the meeting was over.
He believes that he was not given much attention because he is more aligned with Bobi Wine. He also believes that the UNMF is only interested in making money and that those who are aligned with Bobi Wine will not be given any money.
However, he added that he does not want this “dirty money” because he is a hustler and can make his own.
Mikie Wine said that he supports unity, but he does not believe that the UNMF will bring about unity in the music industry.
He believes that the UNMF has already started with disunity by including and excluding several musicians.
Other singers such as John Blaq, King Saha, and Big Eye have also expressed dissatisfaction with the UNMF hierarchy.
