Bobi Wine Postpones Visit to Gulu

The National Unity Platform (Party) officials have postponed the scheduled visit of their president, Robert Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, to Gulu City. The politician is currently holding a nationwide tour in different districts across the country.

This is to mobilize the party members in preparation for the upcoming 2026 general election.

Samuel Okot, the Coordinator of NUP in the Acholi sub-region, told journalists that Bobi Wine was expected to be in Gulu on Saturday, November 16, 2024, in Gulu City.

However, because of the overwhelming demand for their president to visit several districts in Acholi, they have decided that they should reschedule his visit to a confirmed date. This is to allow him to visit a couple of districts.

He added that Mr. Wine will be in Nakasongola on Friday. The closure of the Karuma Bridge makes it practically hard for them. They will not have enough time with their  supporters in Northern Uganda.

He also refuted allegations that their regional offices in Gulu are not closed. He also added that this is propaganda being peddled by some people in the ruling party to discredit their work.

Ms. Brenda Atim Laker, Deputy Secretary for the Women’s Wing in the Acholi sub-region, said that they are mobilizing all their supporters in the grassroots.

This is for them to be ready for the upcoming election. She also added that women in the Acholi sub-region should offer themselves for leadership positions under NUP. This is because the party embraces everyone.
