In a recorded video while walking in the city center on some of the bad roads, Bobi Wine said that the ongoing Non-aligned Movement (NAM) summit is a perfect opportunity to ‘ku labisa’ (expose) the sorry state of the different services in the country.
According to Kyagulanyi, most of the roads are in a poor state. The only few roads that have been repaired are to cater for the transportation of foreigners. And the citizens can’t even be allowed to walk on them.
Therefore, Ugandans should come out and use this opportunity. They should either plant bananas on potholes or use any other means to express their dissatisfaction. At least this might help to increase pressure on good service delivery by those necessary.
Additionally, he said that he too is going to pass in the city with ‘eggali‘ (demonstrators). However, people shouldn’t wait for leaders to demand service delivery, they too can affect the necessary change.
“Fellow citizens, you can all see the sorry state our roads are in. They are all dilapidated and taxpayers money has been used to cater to foreigners. Use all the necessary means to show your dissatisfaction. I don’t care whether you plant bananas or anything in these potholes. Myself I will be doing the same but don’t wait for the leaders to tell you what to do,” he said.
Earlier this week, Kyagulanyi while speaking at the party headquarters said that he should have been the one welcoming these NAM delegates. And President Museveni is doing it unlawfully.
Besides, he told people not to smile to express their suffering. This is after Minister Chris Baryomunsi told citizens to put on happy faces during this NAM summit.
