Boda Boda Riders Have Done More Harm In Kampala And Need To Be Regulated – Zuena Kirema

Singer Bebe Cool’s wife Zuena Kirema has highlighted the disadvantage of too many boda boda riders in Kampala and believes these should be regulated. According to her, these riders have led to a higher crime rate.

She noted that the number of boda bodas in the city have outnumbered the pedestrians. This in turn has translated into a high crime rate from these cyclists. Besides, they keep on breaking several traffic laws. Therefore something needs to be done about them.

“The numbers of boda bodas on the road have outnumbered the people on foot. Not mentioning the high crime rates that accompany them and the laws they keep breaking. Something has to be done,” she said.

There is no doubt about the lawlessness caused by these cyclists. Apparently, many of them have been cited aiding many crimes such as the drive-by shootings of many people including public officials.

That is not to mention the many traffic laws they break. Anyone who has ever used a boda in the city center can attest to this. Consequently, it’s like the traffic laws do not apply to them.

In trying to beat the traffic laws or trying to maneuver around other road users, they also end up causing fatal accidents. It’s believed that most of the accidents in the city are a result of boda boda accidents.

No matter how traffic Police try to ensure that they adhere to traffic laws, they always break them. It’s just a few of them who abide by these rules.
