In 2014, Boseman was in Zurich promoting ‘Get Up On’, a biopic where he plays as James Brown, a soul legend. His agent told him Marvel looked forward to speaking to him. Marvel is the production house responsible for releasing $100 million films based on superhero comics.
Such was the secrecy surrounding the challenge. The Marvel gov’t on the finish of the road did not even say the title of the enduring character they wished Chadwick Boseman to play.
‘’We want you to play a role and we think you know. Are you?’’
Boseman’s first appearance would be in Captain America Civil War as the prince of Wakanda. And later he would star in the film Black Panther itself, only this time he would be the King of the African Nation.
How it all began
Boseman told this story in 2016 to a stunned audience in Jimmy Kimmel Live during a press tour. This happened right before the release of Captain America Civil War.
‘’Charles Carter, you were right. Come out wherever you are,’’ he said smiling.
The two first met on the lot of the Fox studio in Sydney Australia where Boseman was filming Gods of Egypt. Carter worked as a bodyguard to one of the film’s leads. They bonded over their love of martial arts, Kung Fu and boxing.
The actor talked a lot about his family and cousins in South Carolina. Boseman showed Carter that his world and those he trusted was a tight circle.
‘’He never said it openly, but I don’t think he liked people he didn’t know calling him brother, except for me,’’ Carter said.
