According to Lwanga, he thinks both concerts will sell out despite being listed on the same day.
Juliana will have her long-awaited concert on the 19th of August at Kampala Serena Hotel. B2C on the same exact day will have theirs at Freedom City.
Juliana’s fees are however hefty with an ordinary ticket going for as high as 150,000 shillings whereas a table is 3m shillings. B2C’s will see a ticket go for 20,000 shillings.
It’s these fees and venues that have had different people saying that both concerts will sell. This is due to the different fan base. Douglas Lwanga too believes so.
He said that it’s not the first time such a thing is happening with two concerts in Kampala on the same day. And all of these have always sold out.
“It’s not the first time it has happened and definitely both are gonna get numbers. Serena has a different kind of people, the person that pays 150,000 is different from a person who pays 10,000. And if there are just two shows in the country, trust me not even those venues are enough. Juliana is gonna sell out and Freedom too is gonna sell out,” Douglas said.
The likes of Bebe Cool and Bobi Wine, Spice Diana and David Lutalo, Busy Signal and Battle of Champions were all staged on the same day. And both concerts massively sold out.
The case however might be a little bit different now. The economy is really hard on everyone and some of these fees especially Juliana’s might be hard. The politicization of the music industry might also come into play, especially for the Nabikoowa singer.
Some social media users have already started accusing her of neglecting their ‘struggle’ yet she was friends with Bobi Wine years ago. Some actually intimately link her to the first son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba with rumors that he fathered her baby.
