BREAKING: Dokolo Woman MP Cecilia Ogwal Dead- Full Details

The family of the woman MP for Dokolo district, Cecilia Ogwal has confirmed her death this morning. Family sources state that Hon Cecilia succumbed to cancer in a hospital in India.

“It is sad, Mama Cecilia Ogwal is no more, she is gone,” said a source who chose anonymity citing privacy concerns.

By the time of her death, the member of Parliament was 77 years old. She has been one of the most powerful politicians in the country.

Additionally, she has been serving as a member of the Parliamentary Committee of Physical Infrastructure in charge of overseeing and covering policy.

These are related to matters concerning Lands, Housing, Urban development, Works and Transport, and Physical Planning. Additionally, she was also a member of member of the budget committee.

One of the most distinguished states women from Uganda, she was born on 12 June 1946. At age 23 in 1969, she won the Miss Uganda beauty pageant.

For her education, she graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of East Africa in Nairobi where she was admitted at 21 years old.

She has served with different regimes in Uganda from all the way back to Amin’s regime. By the time of her death, she has been a member of the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party.

Parliament is yet to issue an official communication but we shall keep you updated.
