Burna Boy Clinches BET Award For Best International Act

Nigerian Afro-pop singer Burna Boy has emerged this year’s winner of the best international act in the 2021 BET Awards that happened last night in the US.

The Awards which were happening for the 21st time took place at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. The “Kilometer” singer was in a tough category that had some of Africa’s elite musicians. These included fellow Nigerian Wizkid and Tanzanian Bongo flavor star Diamond Platinumz.

It has been a stellar career for the singer who recently won the prestigious Grammy Award and now has added another big award to his career.

Burna Boy while collecting his award called his mother to the stage to show his gratitude and appreciation for the support she has accorded him throughout his music career. The singer’s mum has been part of his management ever since he started singing.

It’s no wonder he has always immensely appreciated and applauded her efforts whenever he achieves on the big stage.

The singer’s win was catalysed by his ‘Twice As Tall’ album that American music mogul P.Diddy produced.

It has gone on to do very well globally. Burna Boy has a number of hit songs featuring Sia, Justin Beiber among other international stars.

He’s currently one of the top-grossing Nigerian and African artists at the moment. Many people applaud his ability to stay true to the African sound and ability to juggle different music genres.
