He said the Entebbe police are actively investigating two incidents in which two fire extinguishers were abandoned by criminals. This happened during a mission that went down on December 17, 2022.
“These ones abandoned these fire extinguishers at about 1:30am. It so appears they could have been on a robbery mission or other missions,” Enanga revealed.
On that very date, suspected thieves possibly climbed the East African Fusion and Liaison Unit Offices wall in Entebbe. These are believed to have stolen two fire extinguishers from there.
Enanga sounded this warning during a media briefing at the Police Headquarters in Naguru yesterday. He revealed that in the wrong hands these extinguishers can be very dangerous.
When discharged during a crime, the extinguishers can be dangerous to those around and to the environment.
“When you put these fire extinguishers on the ground, they can be propelled to small doors, windows and in the extreme case they can be used in the making of fire extinguisher bombs where an improvised explosive device (IED) is concealed inside the fire extinguisher and can be used as a roadside IED or vehicle IED,” Enanga warned.
Due to the risks posed by these extinguishers, Enanga warned managers and proprietors to be extra careful.
