This came after they shut down the country’s only international airport temporarily on Wednesday.
The closure followed the Wednesday early morning incident in which a RwandAir flight veered off the main runway into the grass area.
“Following the successful removal of the Rwanda Air aircraft from the runway strip, flights in and out of Entebbe International Airport have been cleared to resume,” a tweet from the Authority this morning.
Yesterday, the authority reversed its notice to airmen informing them that the airport had become safe for landing and takeoff. Later, it announced the closure of the airport.
“Owing to safety precautions, Entebbe International Airport’s runway 17/35, which was earlier on reopened for operations has been temporarily closed. Arrangements had been put in place for flights to land and take-off with precautions,” the authority said.
To begin with, the authority first halted all inbound flights. This is because, the RwandAir aircraft got stuck on the runway strip in the process of removing it. This immediately called for a review of the previous clearance.
Today morning, CAA once again announced the successful removal of the RwandAir aircraft from the runway strip clearing the Airport to resume.
By last night, the incident left several passengers stranded at the Airport. Many took to social media to share photos of the situation at the airport.
