CAF Awards 2024: Denis Omedi Loses Goal of the Year Award To Angola’s Mabululu

Angola’s Cristovao Mabululu won the Goal of the Year award for the year 2024 beating ten African stars. This left Uganda’s Denis Omedi in the distant 6th position. It should be noted that this category was purely decided by fans through votes.

Mabululu’s goal scored against Namibia in the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations 2023 was overwhelmingly voted as it garnered 121,192 votes. Omedi’s rabona goal against KCCA in the Fufa Super 8 was voted 13,766 times. However, it could only place 6th in the rankings as per the votes.

Wassam Abou Ali goal versus TP Mazembe for Al Ahly was in second place. This was followed by Yassine Benzi goal for Algeria versus South Africa in FIFA Series 2024. Said Benrahma’s goal against Togo in the Afcon 2025 qualifiers and Sebastien Haller’s winner in the Afcon 2023 final against Nigeria the other goals ahead of Omedi’s tactful goal.
