He revealed that he has been harassed at one point by opposition supporters accusing him of supporting the ruling party.
The NBS TV anchor said he has been on Bobi Wine’s journey ever since he contested as the member of parliament for Kyadondo East.
According to Mugume, he was among the first journalists to report about Bobi Wine’s campaigns. Even when the NUP president decided to contest for the presidency, he said he was there to report.
However, because he interviewed President Museveni, opposition supporters have been holding on to that and saying he is an NRM supporter.
He said for now he is not into politics and he doesn’t support any political party. He does his job as a journalist and that is all.
“I don’t support any political party although people have claimed that I support the ruling party. As a journalist, I have reported on different political parties. I remember I was among the first people to report on Bobi Wine’s political journey in 2018,” he said.
It should be noted that a number of news anchors or reporters have been accused of supporting NRM. NBS TV itself has been accused of fostering the NRM agenda at the expense of the entire political system in Uganda.
