Catherine Kusasira To Contest For Buikwe District Woman MP Seat In 2026

Singer Catherine Kusasira is ready to take her political career to another level as she waits for the 2026 elections. She said that she will be joining parliament come next elections as a woman member of parliament representing Buikwe district.

Ms Kusasira is a big supporter of President Museveni and the ruling party National Resistance Movement (NRM).

She was appointed as a presidential advisor by the president himself. The singer has always shown interest in joining active politics although she has never got an opportunity.

Last time she wanted to contest in the East African parliament but still, there wasn’t much opportunity for her to carry on.

In a recent interview, she said she had made up her mind and is willing to contest for woman member of parliament. She said she knows it is time to serve her people and she knows that she is going to do that much better.

“People of Buikwe wait for me, I am coming to serve you. In 2026, I will contest for the woman member of parliament in Buikwe. I know my people. I hope they vote for me so that I can represent them so well as I should,” she said.

It should be noted that different celebrities have shown interest in active politics. A few support the ruling party while many support the opposition led by fellow celebrity Bobi Wine.
