Celebrities Mourn The Passing Of Singer Evelyn Lagu

Ugandan celebrities have joined the rest of the public in mourning the passing of singer Evelyn Lagu who was pronounced dead early this morning.

The singer was pronounced dead by her son early on the morning of Monday 18th September 2023. She had been battling kidney and heart complications and was on dialysis.

Throughout her music career, Evelyn Lagu blessed her fans with love and inspirational songs. She had created an impact on several fellow artists’ lives.

While battling health complications, fellow artists helped motivate her emotionally and financially through charity drives. Some of them had pledged to support her at the “Evelyn Love Charity concert” which she had planned to hold at Papaz Spot in Makindye on 28th October 2023.

Her death has left many shocked and below are some messages of condolences to her family from fellow celebrities:

The singer had initially traveled to Turkey in 2019 in the hope of getting a kidney transplant. However, her medical doctors advised that she ditch the plan in the meantime.

This was since she was too weak to go through the process. She returned to Uganda and in 2020 when she was supposed to travel back, the Covid-19 lockdown happened across the world. The singer since then, has been on kidney dialysis and heavy medication.

Amidst all these, she has always been outspoken and jolly. She has also been seen in several concerts and was also planning her own charity event when suddenly, her light diminished.

The singer will be missed by many in the entertainment industry as seen from the outpouring of condolence messages.
