Apparently, the singer derived the context from the numerous funerals he had been to. This one time the chairman of a certain area had died and they went for burial.
There was a group of young men who were made to do every chore there. They did so relentlessly but when it came to the time of eating, the food was done. These boys were forsaken despite being the pillars of the burial.
They had some money on them that could buy food but decided to buy sugar and the rest as capital to wreck havoc on the funeral.
“The song Chai we Njayi is actually based on a true story. I derived the song from the various funerals I had been to. There was one we went to and some energetic boys there were made to do every chore. However, the cooks finished all the food and didn’t serve them. They got annoyed and decided to buy the ingredients to make the burial one heck of a place,” said Planet Omutume.
The Chai We Njayi song has turned out so viral on the social media app, TikTok. In fact, it’s where it got promoted to the mainstream media. And this was the idea of his producer who suggested they cut the chorus and put it on TikTok.
Planet furthermore added that he had never envisaged being where the song has put him currently. He, therefore, is expecting more good things ahead to come his way.
