Challenges Ahead For Katonga Faction In Forming New Political Party

Political analysts have cast doubts on the feasibility of the Katonga-based FDC faction’s recent endeavor to establish a new political party.

Emmanuel Dombo, Director of Communications for the National Resistance Movement (NRM), voiced skepticism regarding the faction’s past failures in sustaining political entities.

Political scholar Yusuf Sserunkuma highlighted the declining public trust in traditional political parties in Uganda, emphasizing the need for innovative solutions to societal challenges.

Hurdles in gaining public support

The NRM criticized the Katonga faction’s initiative to form a new party, dismissing it as inconsequential and lacking the potential to pose a threat.

Analysts emphasize the importance of the faction proving its appeal and relevance to the Ugandan population to secure success in their registration process and beyond.

In similar story previously published by NEWSLEXPOINT.com, Kasambya County MP Hon Daudi Kabanda faulted the FDC for being at the forefront of destroying their own party. He added that they shouldn’t be blaming President Museveni for their debacles.

It should be noted that the once-strong party now has two factions. One is the Katonga faction led by Erias Lukwago, Kiiza Besigye, Wasswa Birigwa, and Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda among other top guns crucial in the formation of the party in the first place.
