Chaos and uncertainties have gotten the best of the National Resistance Movement NRM Party Elections as its only hours away from the agreed party election day. In districts like Hoima, the voter registers are no where to be seen.
Their voters are not yet sure whether they will be voting or not as they are only waiting for communication from their leaders.
Case in point;
Eighteen villages in Hoima don’t have access to their registers as of now. The electoral commission there however communicated that these registers are in Kampala and most likely will be in Hoima by the end of today.
If things don’t go as communicated though, the party will have to find other means because Article 9 of their constitution demand that all party members should participate in the NRM party elections.
Currently, the party is trying to work around the clock to make sure that their primaries go peacefully even in the midst of all this uncertainty.
In this time and era, why is the voters registers be hand written.
It is not cost effective to store information on paper. It can easily get lost. Most especially if its handwritten, where is the credibility?
More to this also is how the voting is going to happen. The party has settled for lining up behind candidates. This wouldn’t have been an issue if not for coronavirus.
So many arrests have taken place especially involving the opposition leaders for not observing health guidelines.
These details too will be looked at as the ruling party carries out its primaries on Friday.
