City Pastor Backs Church Of Uganda As It Separates From Canterbury

Knowledge of God International Ministries pastor, Samuel Newman, has commended the Church of Uganda (COU).

This came after the latter said it would break away from the Church of England, an Ecclesia Anglicana.

The threat came after the authority of Canterbury was condemned for supporting same-sex marriages. The Church of Uganda condemned this as well saying it is a path leading away from the Biblical teachings of the church.

However, though, it also made a list of other theological and liturgical issues that forced its breakaway.

According to pastor Newman, the decision by the COU is full proof that Uganda is a remnant nation. This is as it was written in book of Romans Chapter 9:28-29. Remnant is a small minority of people who will remain faithful to God and so be saved.

“If the Lord never left us a descendant, we would have turned into Sodom and Gomorrah. So, if the Church of Uganda is separating from Canterbury over homosexuality, that moves on to confirm that we as a nation of Uganda, we are a remnant nation which vowed to stand for God,” he said.

He further said that we always have to respect how God created us as male and female to be a companion for each other. He also talked about the unchangeable standard of Christian marriage between one man and one woman.

Pastor Newman made these remarks during the National prayer conference. It is a three-day conference that started on Tuesday and will run until Thursday.

He also called upon Christians to repent for their shortcomings and maintain Christian values.

“What is going to change this nation is all of us to realize that we are a nation, we stand for God and our country. If we turn back to the Lord, the Lord will begin to give guidance, blessing in the light of the Word of God, everything will change. The church has got to give our political leaders light on what God expect them to do,” he said.
