In a letter written by Richard Ssebamala, member of Parliament for Bukoto Central Constituency, the government apparently has not laid any plans for after 42 days.
“We need to have a well-structured plan of easing the lockdown. The responsibility of coming up with such a plan entirely rests on government. It’s few days away from the end of the lockdown but until now the government has not communicated any plan of easing out the lockdown,” he said.
In this letter, Richard also addressed the Mailo land tenure system.
He says, DP is the only party that has protected customers and traditional institutions.
“It is important that we declare it here and now that we shall fight all manner of conduct intended to destabilize the cultural construction of societies that make Uganda. Upon that, we wish to communicate our dissatisfaction with the move by government intended to tamper with the established land management system in Buganda, the mailo land tenure system,” he said.
They say DP is committed and will stand for the party. Lockdown is officially ending on Thursday. After that until the president speaks, the country doesn’t know what next.
They have no plan in place right now. By now, the government should have vaccinated at least most people in the city but that is not how it seems like.
However, the public is evidently tired of lockdown because became of all the constraints it has come with. The unemployment levels are on the rise because people lost their jobs.
