The comedy group Bizonto has revealed that they are going to follow in the footsteps of the Church of Uganda in copyrighting their content. It should be noted that the COU a few days ago officially gazetted its attire as a safeguard against potential misuse or misappropriation by clergy from other denominations and sects.
Rev. Canon William Ongeng, the Provincial Secretary of the Church of Uganda revealed that several denominations had been gazetted. These include those that the Pentecostals have been using as their attires.
This had led to confusion amongst the public. Therefore, the Church moved ahead to gazette 42 episcopal vestments used by the Archbishop and Bishops. The Church did this with the assistance of the Uganda Registration Service Bureau (URSB).
Now the Bizonto Comedy Group has said that they are also going to gazette the attires they use in performing their skits. And if they find anyone that is wearing them, they will take action.
Are they a target of C.O.U.
The group denied being one of the groups targeted by the Church in gazetting its attires. This is because they were not called out by the church leaders.
Additionally, the group said that once they are done copyrighting their clothes, they will prosecute anyone found abusing them. They even joked that they got a revelation from God on using such apparel.
“We want to thank the Church of Uganda for giving us a good idea. After gazetting their attires, we are also going to follow suit and do the same. We are currently in talks with our lawyer to see a way forward. If we find anyone doing stupid things in our attire, we shall then deal with them mercilessly,” the group said.
