Members of the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) have expressed apprehension regarding the treatment of veteran opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye in Luzira maximum prison.
During a recent visit to the prison, Kampala deputy Lord Mayor, Doreen Nyanjura, revealed that their attempts to provide Dr. Besigye with food items were thwarted by prison authorities.
Dr. Kizza Besigye, who has been given limited food options, is reportedly facing restrictions on physical interactions with visitors and other inmates, raising questions about his well-being in prison.
In response to the allegations made by PFF members and the deputy Lord Mayor, Prisons spokesperson Frank Baine denied the existence of any restrictions on Dr. Besigye, stating that the prison is fulfilling its duty in managing his incarceration professionally.
