Mama D, Ugandan Chef Set To Break Guinness World Record For The Longest Cooking Marathon

Cooking Is Like Therapy For Me – Mama D Says As She Attempts Another Guinness Cookathon Record

Dorcus Kirabo Bashema aka Mama D has said that cooking is like therapy for her. This is as she aims to have another go at the Guinness Book of Records world record for the longest hours in a Cookathon.

It should be noted that Mama D had the entire country last year in December at its toes as she attempted to break this record.

She cooked for 144 hours and was completely sure that she had bagged the record. However, before she could even get herself certified for a day, another Ghanaian chef known as Faila Abdul Razak went for the record.

This has previously been set by an Irish chef chef known as Alan Fisher and it was at 119 hours and 57 minutes. However, Faila’s record of 240 hours is yet to be certified too.

Therefore, it’s here that Mama D is also attempting to not give the Guinness Book of Records people time to rest. She’s attempting to reclaim the record that should have seen her name go down in history.

According to Mama D, she tried other jobs in her life such as banking. However, cooking always brought her soul to peace. She started to cook and posting her food on Facebook. People started supporting her business and this is when she learnt that this is her true calling.

Read her statement below;

“I tried to do other jobs such as working in a bank but cooking was like therapy for me. I started trying it out, cooking different foods and posting them in Facebook. People started to ask for the fares of my food. It’s then that I learned that I could cook,” she said.

As she was requested by the Guinness World Records, she’s going to attempt breaking the record once again. This remarkable feat will begin on the 1st of June, 2024. She will be working from High Note Bar alongside Kamuli road in Kireka.
