Last week, Kyambogo University closed down after registering around 50 cases of Covid.
What does this increase in Covid numbers mean for the rest of the schools, can they still handle the pressure?
The covid task force had recommended the closure of schools and churches for a period of three weeks. On top of this, Kampala and Wakiso also are being closely monitored for a possible lockdown.
Meanwhile, this week the president is expected to address the nation again. The task force is apparently meeting on Wednesday to discuss the way forward. Last week when the president spoke, he clearly said he had come just to warn us. However, this may not be the case this time round because things have gotten worse than they were.
Due to the increase in the covid cases, and demand for the vaccine, the vaccination ground is now at Kololo. Many people have gone out to get the vaccine due to the fear of the second wave. Since the young people are now at risk too and our population is mostly youths then indeed something must be done. However, if schools are now in danger, what next for the education sector.
