One of the radio’s presenters, Isaac Katende aka Kasuku shared a post from the company. This said that company regretted to announce to all it’s clients that the station won’t have any scheduled programming for the foreseeable future.
Additionally, the board of directors will take into deliberations to reassess it’s continuity as a business venture.
“We regret to inform our esteemed listeners, clients and other stakeholders of 90.4 Dembe FM that the station will, for the foreseeable future, have no scheduled programming. This is as the Board and Management reassesses its continued viability as a business concern. We apologise for any inconveniences that this may cause,” read the announcement.
Apparently, Dembe FM has been one of the longest running local language radio stations. It has created some of the biggest names in the media industry in the country. Some of its products include Kasuku, Bina Baibe, Prossy Patra, DJ Jacob Omutuuze among others.
Without a doubt, it has been one of the most listened to Luganda radio stations. It’s contribution to the music industry is unparalleled especially through it’s radio presenters such as Kasuku and DJ Jacob.
It’s, however, not the first time that the radio station is going off air. Towards the end of 2016, the radio was switched off air by UCC. However, it was reinstated about a month later in 2017.
Meanwhile Kasuku said that his famous Talk and Talk show will move to his YouTube page in the same time frame it has been on radio.
