Deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja Succumbs To Covid-19 At 85

Breaking News reaching Newslexpoint desk has revealed that Deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja has succumbed to Coronavirus. He died moments ago at Mulago Hospital where he has been hospitalized and on life support.

The veteran politician hailed from Bugweri in Busoga. He has been with President Museveni since the days of the FRONASA struggles. He was also deeply into the independence struggle along with like-minded peers like Jaberi Bidandi Ssali, Kintu Musoke and others.

Rumors circulated on social media platforms a few weeks ago claiming Kirunda Kivejinja had died.

Official reports from Mulago however disregarded such information as barbaric and  spread by people with selfish interests. Dr Baterana, the ED of Mulago had refuted that information saying that the situation was not worrying and that he was improving.

Latest reports however indicate that Kivejinja could not fight any longer and therefore succumbed to the virus.

“His death is a very big loss to H.E. the President, the NRM party, Busoga and Uganda at large. KK was also a Pan-Africanist and the only way the rest of the country can ensure he doesn’t die in vain is to learn from the experience of all departed VIPs, including MP Robinah Ssentongo who died yesterday [Friday] and begin to take COVID-19 very seriously,” a well-placed State House official said. The source however urged the media to wait for official government pronouncement that will be more detailed.
