The deputies pulled the man over and he instead ran away from them. This forced them to chase the man down.
“Our suspect held some items of clothing in his hand, punched an officer in the face and dropped the items he held.”
The deputy sheriffs noticed that inside the dropped items was a semiautomatic handgun. And at that exact moment the deputy-involved shooting occurred.
Both officers fired there weapons striking the suspect several times and killed him on the spot. They recovered the suspect’s handgun and kicked off an investigation immediately.
On Monday night, the members of Blacklivesmatter LA called upon demonstrators to protest the shooting.
