Dignitaries Flood Namugongo To Celebrate Martyr’s Day

Christian faithfuls from different walks of life have flooded Namugongo to celebrate Martyr’s day. It’s the first time in two years that the country is celebrating this day as it is.

Covid-19 had interfered with most of the public gatherings including such gatherings since 2020. Clearly, the nation had missed such huge gatherings looking at the turn up of people in Namugongo today.

This day has pulled out a number of dignitaries as well from various places. The Vice President, Jessica Alupo and former Speaker, Rebecca Kadaga among others have already set foot in Namugongo.

This only means people at all the standards of life treasure this day. This is because of the impact it has on the faith of many.

Police and sister agencies have beefed up security around the areas of Namugongo. They are also regulating traffic to control movement.

They also thoroughly check everyone entering the premises including the priests. Covid-19 measures are still in place, with most people having their masks on as a way of protection.

June 3rd is a very memorable day in the religious history of the country. Christians remember this day as the day where a group of young men died because of their faith.

Under the order of Kabaka Mwanga 2, they burnt these young men to death. Though most of the people have a number of theories surrounding the reason behind their death, most confirm it was faith-based.
