Do We Still Need The Covid-Inspired Curfew In The Country?

Do we really still need curfew in the country at this point? Now that coronavirus cases have gone down and things seem to be going back to normal, isn’t it about time? The truth of the matter is that citizens are not even keeping the curfew time. You will find people still moving sluggishly even after 9pm. You will hear cars still on the road at the hour of 12am.

So what is the point of curfew right now? Can’t the government devise other means to improve security? Currently, the curfew time is 9pm. It is actually almost coming to a year since the curfew was incorporated. We started with the hour of 7pm and as things got better it was extended to 9pm.

We can’t however downplay all the good things that have come with it. It has awesomely improved security in the country. In hours where criminals would be moving to torment people, security forces were all over the place. Accidents that used to happen at night due to drunk driving have gone down by a notch which is also a plus.

Now though, the public has become frustrated especially business personnel who feel their working hours have gone down. Profits are just not the same especially for those whose businesses boom in the evening. Perhaps the president could extend the time again if he can’t completely lift it. Otherwise, a lot of things are at a standstill because of curfew.
