Doctor Spends $10,000 On COVID Test From His Own Employer

Doctor Zachary Sussman went to his own employer to get tested for coronavirus but to his surprise, they charged him $10,984.

When the doctor went to the physicians, he assumed he would be tested for free since he is an employee. Unfortunately, his insurance company paid $10k for his visit there. The bill left him surprised and so disappointed. He went ahead and quit his job immediately thereafter.

The insurance company said the case is under investigation which could lead to a repayment. It could also lead to a referral to law enforcement in order to prosecute the parties involved. This case is the latest to show providers overcharging people for cheap tests like the coronavirus test.

This is just one of the examples in a string of frauds in the Covid-19 testing. A different emergency room in Texas charged a $175 covid test at $2,479 according to ProPublica.

In May, Sussman wanted the test before he went to visit his family in Scottsade because he had a headache before. The decided to go to one of his own company’s location to see things from a patient’s point of view. He knew the cost of every testing kit to be $8 only.

The doctor got more surprised when the insurance document said it is payable at 100%. He however, felt releaved for not hitting him with the bill, but he felt it was wrong.
