American sprinter Noah Lyles has come out to advise all people out there chasing their dreams not to give up on them. He said this after winning gold in the 100m race at the ongoing 2024 Paris Olympics.
The track runner said that he suffers from a number of illnesses. These include dyslexia, asthma, ADD, depression and anxiety.
However, he said that this can’t define what he wants to become and has always wanted to. This should be the case for other people out there.
“I have Asthma, allergies, dyslexia, ADD, anxiety, and Depression. But I will tell you that what you have does not define what you can become. Why Not You!,” the Olympic gold medalist said.
Apparently, Lyles won gold by a whisker as both he and Jamaican runner Kishane Thompson posted a time of 9.79 seconds.
At the end of the race both he and the Jamaican thought they had won gold although the Jamaican and almost everyone thought that was the case.
However, it was determined that the American was the winner by just a fine margin. His time was put at 9.784 while that of the Jamaican was put at 9.789.
Fred Kerley, another American, settled for the bronze medal. Meanwhile, all the runners posted a time under 10 seconds.
Originally, Noah Lyles is a 200m runner, so it was a surprise that he won the 100m. This was the US’ first gold medal in the 100m in 20 years at the Olympics.
Jamaica’s Usain Bolt record time of 9.58 seconds still stands as none has been able to break it even after his retirement.
