Douglas Lwanga Calls On Government To Support The Arts Industry

NBS television presenter Douglas Lwanga has called upon the government of Uganda to start supporting the art industry. He said there is so much taxes collected from the industry but little is invested in the people that are in the industry.

The TV host has been in the entertainment industry for more than 10 years. He is also the brainchild behind the Purple Party, a high-end party that is mostly attended by the middle class.

The taxes for organizing increased and Douglas Lwanga has now started seeing the problem of the government not supporting the art industry.

There have been associations and federations formed in the art industry so that they get help from the government.

Unfortunately, they haven’t helped so much because the content creators in the industry have failed to trust each other.

Every time an association and federation is formed, they immediately accuse the leaders in those groups of wanting to eat money from the government.

According to Douglas Lwanga, enough is enough, the arts industry wants help from the government. He said he is very educated and ready to represent the art industry in big offices.

The habit of saying artists are not educated and they don’t know anything in the industry should stop.

“I think as a stakeholder in the arts industry, we have really had enough. We need government to step up and support the arts because they get so much money from us. They always say people from the industry are not educated. Here I am and ready to represent,” he said.
