Dubai Expo: Ugandans On Social Media React To Uganda Showcasing Lato Milk

Ugandans took to social media to show their frustration at Uganda for showcasing off Lato Milk at the 2020 Dubai Expo.

3rd October 2021 was the Uganda National day for showcasing off her content to the world at the ongoing Expo.

The ceremony was even officiated by the Ugandan President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

In his address, Mr Museveni said that Uganda is ripe for investment and therefore investors should think of exploring the East African country.

“I officiated at the opening ceremony of the Uganda National Day during the World Trade Expo in Dubai, UAE. My message to the world was that Uganda is ripe for investment, ready for profit-driven business, and the time is right NOW. #DubaiExpo2020,” President Museveni said.

In the content that was showcased, it was local dairy products Lato Milk that caught people’s attention the most.

They wondered why of all things the country is has, they had to show off Lato Milk.

“First of all I love the tree on our pavilion; sign of love for nature: though doesn’t depict the rate deforestation back home. Lastly, what are we showing at a universal expedition? Powder milk?” One Twitter user said in regard to the table with Lato Milk.

“The Arabs look shocked. I think they expected a Robot,” another said.

“At least we should have showcased our kadamaz. Isn’t that the main thing we export to UAE? Uganda needs prayers!” One more user commented.

“All I want to know is what’s unique with Lato that can make someone move from UAE to come to Uganda. Just one,” another wondered the exception of Lato Milk in regards to all the products that could have gone to the expo.

“Either the owner of Lato milk paid someone some ka money or he is related to the “banene” Mu government,” another swung in with an accusation of bribery.

Meanwhile, the Dubai Expo which had been in the works for 7 years was scheduled for October 2020- April 2021.

They however pushed it to October 2021-March 31st 2022 due to the COVID 19 pandemic.
