The EC sent a letter out calling them to attend a meeting on 14th December 2020 in person. This meeting will start at exactly 10:00am.
Robert Kyagulanyi had a meeting with the Electoral Commission just a week ago on the 2nd December 2020. He wanted to express his dissatisfaction in the way police was treating his supporters.
He complained about police always standing in his way every time he was going to campaign in whatever region. There was an is hardly a day when Kyagulanyi goes to campaign and tear gas doesn’t appear in the picture.
However in the letter issued out by the electoral commission, it shows that the only reason as to why the police gets involved in the campaigns of Amuriat and Kyagulanyi is because of their disobedience.
“…In the process this has resulted into unwarranted occasional confrontations with security personnel. A case in point are mass rallies held in Iganga on 17th November 2020 and Koboko on 8th December 2020…” the letter reads.
The way forward;
Will there be a punishment after this meeting? What is at stake? All those are questions awaiting answers today. Politics is now at its height and nothing can almost be done unless maybe the EC calls off elections.
The truth of the matter is that its hard to control people when it comes to political rally and yet we are in the bad times of Coronavirus.
