Apparently, the singer fell victim to the closure of music concerts by the government due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kenzo had organized his festival in March 2020 at Kololo Independence Grounds. A lot of effort and money had been invested into this concert. No wonder he looked sad while announcing that it had been called off. It’s this concert that even got him locked out of the country for a number of months.
Kenzo together with his band had traveled to the Ivory Coast to rehearse in preparation for the concert. However, the government enforced lockdown measures that included closing the borders to all the incoming passengers were enforced.
Kenzo spent a number of months and reached to a point of even shedding tears during a live Facebook video. He pleaded with the necessary authorities to let him back into the country. This however fell on deaf ears for some time. It was only after the intervention of the then speaker Rt Hon Rebecca Kadaga that they permitted Kenzo to come back to the country.
With new music and fresh from lockdown, it will be interesting to see how the BET award-winning singer and his fans hit the stage once again.
They are yet to communicate the venue and dates. We shall keep you posted.
