Singer Eddy Kenzo has through the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) this week paid tribute to singer Dr Jose Chameleone at a jam session at Allure Hotel in Mutundwe.
The singer performed a variety of his songs and the federation’s president Kenzo revealed plans to celebrate the living music legend even in a much bigger way.
According to Kenzo, Chameleone has given the nation a lot and there is still a lot coming from him. Therefore, it is only right that they celebrate him when he’s still alive.
“It was only right that we celebrate Dr Jose Chameleone. He has given us a lot and much more is still coming. I think we should celebrate him in a much bigger way. I’m very sure we will very soon,” he said.
Besides, the singer was also asked about the continued release of vulgar songs by upcoming musicians. And if there is something that the federation will do to stop this.
The singer said that his federation’s goal is to fight for the copyright law. It’s the government and UCC’s role to make sure that some words are not used in songs by singers.
However, he doesn’t blame them because the current generation seems to embrace these songs and ignore those with a message.
Speaking about the violence between different musicians, the Big Talent boss said that this will also come to pass. He added that there is no singer world over who doesn’t move with his crew, ‘eggali.’ This is purposely for security because the government doesn’t do it for them.
The Semyekozo singer also asked the media to stop concentrating on only musicians’ deficiencies. This is because there are many good things they also do but people cherry-pick only the bad ones. Besides, the things singers do are also done by very many people out there.
