According to the Semyekozo singer, they had a clique of singers who sprouted at the same time. The ‘My Miss’ singer happened to be one of them.
Unfortunately, he never made it to the other side. Kenzo decided to extend an olive branch to the faded singer who was back then one of the most budding. The two collaboarated on a song known as ‘Kya Club.’
Meanwhile, Kenzo also talked about the Ugandan fans who haven’t helped musicians in progressing sometimes.
This is because these always put emphasis on lyricism. Yet in other countries such as South Africa, music is appreciated for its entirety.
“We had a clique as artists, and Coco Finger was one of us. We succeeded in the music industry, but he didn’t progress as much. I decided to reach back and help him catch up, which is why I included him on my album.”
“The problem we have here in Uganda is that we support artists based on the words they say in a song. However, abroad, like in South Africa, fans appreciate music for its entirety, not just the lyrics,” said Eddy Kenzo.
The singer also reiterated the means of earning from music which are still a problem in the country.
Musicians in Uganda usually start earning when their songs become hits and start performing them on stage.
However, in other countries that have gone digital, musicians start earning the instant their songs are released. This is why the copyright law which his Federation is fighting for is crucial.
