VIDEO: Edith Byanyima Denied Being In ”People Power” Movement

Oxfarm Executive director Winnie Byanyima’s sister Edith Byanyima has finally decided to run away from the people power protest group. This confirmation follows a reporter on media which clarified that her fear to distance herself from it comes after the police searching her home and found red napkins which represent this opposition movement.

In her words, Edith mentioned that the things the Uganda police went with included red napkins that were made basically for helpless youths who were doing carpentry and other skillful training.

Edith Byanyima distances herself from ”People Power”.

During this week, the police surrounded Byanyima’s home located in Muyenga and completely searched every corner of her house where they finally saw 24 pieces of red napkins. Edith Byanyima claimed that police searched almost the whole house, and the workshop where she safe guards the tools and materials her students uses to train.

’’We are more than six ladies, we do this voluntarily, we see people who are struggling especially in the slums and give them the designs, buy materials, help them produce products and we help them market the products.’

Shockingly, the police said that they were searching for harmful weapons and other unlawful materials. Through pretense and being eager to suspect her, they thought that these red cloths were made for wrong activities.

Therefore, the youth who were using these materials became so furious and asked the police to return all the things they took from them.
