Elijah Kitaka Reveals Why Swangz Avenue Signed Him

Makindye-based music label Swangz Avenue recently signed signed a new artiste known as Elijah Kitaka to their list of singers. Elijah is one of the new artistes on the scene and looks talented and he’s revealed why the label signed him.

He said that he’s been around the scene for quite long but as a part time singer. Besides he’s been an instrumentalist, performer and producer at once. And he’s surely performed with some legendary people such as Limit X.

In 2020 he released a music album known as Son of Karooli. This is the one he’s been riding on since then up to now.

It was from this album that Swangz Avenue invited him to perform at their Roast and Rhyme event last month. After his amazing performance, the label decided to sign him and bring him closer to the family.

“I have been percussionist, producer and singer before my breakthrough. I’ve played with many musicians such as Limit X. I have also been to different festivals in and out of Uganda. In 2020, I released an album known as son of Karooli. This is the one I have been performing till now. It was this album that got me a gig with Swangz Avenue to perform at Roast and Rhyme. After, they decided to bring me closer to the family,” said Elijah Kitaka.

Categorizing his genre, he termed it as Continental/African music. This is because he doesn’t like to put it in a specific category

The singer further revealed that he was inspired by music with instruments. Seeing musicians such as Burnaboy, Wizkid, Sauti Sol among others, he’s confident that that quality music still exists.

In Uganda, Kitaka revealed that he likes musicians such as Azawi and hopes they will work together soon.

Furthermore, Kitaka said that he recently released a song titled Nothing and requested people to check it out.

Meanwhile Swangz Avenue has primarily focused on female musicians. The likes of Winnie Nwagi, Vinka, Azawi and Zafaran are all signed to the label and have been mainstays. Elijah Kitaka is the first male musician to be signed onto the label and it seems there is something special about him.
