EU interior ministers meet to discuss quota plans for the Mediterranean migrants

The interior ministers of the EU are to hold talks in Luxembourg on how to deal with the tens of thousands migrants trying to enter Europe each year through crossing the Mediterranean and the main issue is how to plan to distribute asylum seekers more evenly across all 28 EU nations.

The crisis has put a huge pressure on Italy, Greece and the Maltese resources which has made the Italians and Greeks to insist that the EU states should share the burden they have seen of about 100,000 people on boats arriving on their shores.

More than 1800 migrants have died so far this year which has brought about a lugubrious moment in Europe adding on the 20th fold increase on the same period last year, the majority had set sail abroad on rickety of crowded boats from strife torn Libya and in recent weeks boat vessels have rescued thousands at a risk of drowning.

plans to resettle the illegal migrants and breaking up the smuggling of People in Europe is soon to be handled by the EU ministers.

EU quota proposals include:

About 24,000 migrants recently arrived in Italy and 16,000 in Greece to be relocated among other EU members.

Distribution key  criteria to include a country’s population, GDP and unemployment, as well as the number of refugees already taken in.

France and Germany are expected to received more than 30% of the relocated refugees

Separate proposal to resettle some 20,000 mainly Syrian refugees currently living in Jordan, Lebanon and Turkey.
