According to him the rate at which elections are rigged is very alarming.
“It would be very okay for parties to work together for a fresh conversation to emerge, but that can’t be the reason the regime militarizes and rigs elections. Everyone must get involved in restoring order in this country and constitutionalism.”
“These by-elections were never elections. The debate for us should be whether the trajectory of elections is something we want to contend with. These are very unfortunate events,” he added.
Mathias Mpuuga says opposition in and out of Parliament should find a way of working together to bring down this regime. Apparently, Uganda has no working constitution because it was thrown in the dustbin.
In this regard it is the responsibility of everyone to put pressure on the government to change it’s ways. However, this is as if left to the leader of opposition and his team in Mpuuga’s opinion.
“Whatever could have gone wrong has already gone wrong, so we need to work together. The opposition must find all ways to work together.”
However, this has been a song amidst the opposition members. When the time comes to work together, they shun it.
It is only recently, in the by-elections that opposition as if worked together but this failed to work in the presidential elections.
Ssegona said he doesn’t mind NRM winning all elections
Meanwhile, Hon Medard Ssegona, the Busiro County East MP said the winning of NRM in by-elections wouldn’t bother him if it were credible. However, its credibility is questionable.
This is the reason why there is so much pulling of the ropes between National Resistance Movement and the opposition.
